It's alright.

I noticed a lot of cheap animations, like using alpha on two sprites to fade them out even though it showed the hidden objects within those sprites. I don't think you made the sprites, but I don't know for sure, so I won't hold that against you.

I also don't like the lack of sound. That said, it wasn't bad. It was high enough quality that it doesn't deserve a blam. I also enjoyed the use of the space bar.

Nice but not really NG material.

I know people don't care, but NG Flash portal was always about showcasing Flash work, not live action films.

That said, you showed off some animations in this, and while I found it boring and not really impressive, some parts were pretty nice. For example, the environments in the beginning Santa scenes were very detailed. I'm not certain that was made in Flash, though. It looks more like traditional animation with compositing in AfterEffects. A lot of the other stuff looks like AE, too.

Awesome animation skills.

I gotta fave this. I just gotta.

That said, you forgot to incorporation emoticons, and you didn't really make us worry about the heroes too much. You also didn't have a story. You should try adding a reason why the monster ventured into town and fought these characters.

ShadowWhoWalks responds:

I tried to stay away from plots as much as possible, cause I really just wanted to focus on a simple fight. I didn't want to waste 10 seconds of the viewer's time about where Vesper came from and why the characters had to fight it. I just wanted to get straight to the point.

and yeah, I seriously forgot to incorporate emoticons until I read a couple of reviews. It would've added a lot of the flavor, bleh.

Nice, small toon.

It's not really something I'd blam, but it really is asking to get blammed for not having much to it. It's too short and features a stick figure and a box. The dialogue is nothing special, either, but again, it's not something so bad I'd want to blam.

Park bench was OK.

Everything looked horrible, the animations included... but that park bench was pretty nice.

Tom's busy. Find someone else.

$600 is a lot of money, but I forgive you, because I realize this is a joke. Anyway, this "Cat Game" should be a hoot. Wait, no, that was the "Owl Game."

LazyMuffin responds:

It's like $300 each for like... a years work, it's not that much, I'm not just being a dick ]:

Animation is OK, art is terrible.

Your characters are nowhere near anatomically correct, and I can tell you tried to get realism. I also think the animation is lacking every few seconds, and the sketchy image at the end looks better than anything in the animation.

That said, I think the tracing of Yuna's performance was pretty good. You worked it into the animation very smoothly, and I think you should expand on the concept of entering popular game characters into 'real' environments. I'm not sure if the show would every get done, though.

I tried out the FFX review, and I didn't see this intro, but the review was hilarious and awesome. I may have to be a fan now, so this animation did its job.

RPGsrok responds:

Yeah, I am starting to wonder if I should look into anatomy more seriously. I will insist I wasn't as concerned with realism in this animation as I've been before, but it's no real excuse. The bitmap at the end is of course not my work, if that's what you meant (helps your argument I suppose lol)

I spent AGES on Yuna, so I'm glad you liked it. Worst part was I got the original footage but I couldn't import it so I was just tracing by eye. But as you observed, that level of detail would be completely insane to bring to everything, at least in a little project like this.

This intro has (so far) only been used in the TSE Riff Theater video - Wendy's Training Videos. But ya, I'm glad you liked his stuff! Definately look into the FF8 review, and also, if you wanna see his early style, check out The Thing. Thx for being civil in your review, hope you enjoy his work!

Cool for what it was.

I'm not a RHG guy, so don't mind me when I say the title sucks, but I'll explain my point of view, anyway: It says "RHG demo" meaning it's a demo of RHG, and since I don't know what RHG is, I kind of expect a game prototype, but instead, I get an extremely short stick figure 'demo' animation. I also don't get any explanation of what RHG is.

The title isn't the only problem. The music was totally unnecessary. It didn't sync to the animation at all and was not your music -- It wasn't even legally used, let alone creatively used. It just seemed slapped on at the last second as more to load, and I already heard this song countless times before.

The animation was good, for stick figures, so I gotta give you credit there. The animation was smooth and exciting, even though it was way too short and not really made for NG purposes. Sorry, this type of 'demo' should not be on NG. You should just find a webhost and share it with RHG members. I assume they have a forum?

I love video games. I can play them day and night, when time allows. I also grew up watching anime, and I have fond memories of DBZ and a few other shows from the Toonami years. My, how time flies... I plan on getting back into animation.
